Our mission is to provide safe shelter, and to offer programs and services in support of the hopes and needs of people dealing with life issues.
We focus on making a positive
difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in our community. We provide support through our daily drop-in centre, our staff and volunteers offer many programs and services, including a nightly meal program for residents and the community.
Your generous donation can really help! In a few simple steps, you can either make a one time donation, give a Charity Gift Card, or even set up a monthly donation amount. Your contributions will enable us to help us find permanent housing for individuals experiencing homelessness.
Cambridge Shelter Corporation grew out of the Out of the Cold program that operated out of seven churches during the winter months from 1998 to 2005. We now provide accommodation, meals and ongoing life skills support, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community!
It is hard to believe that it has only been eighteen months since the Covid 19 pandemic was declared. So many things have changed, and ‘normal’ seems years ago. Serving a marginalized and vulnerable population during the pandemic presented many unique challenges for us at The Bridges.
Prior to the pandemic, we were regularly providing emergency shelter for over 100 individuals each night. That capacity was immediately lowered to 64 to allow for the required physical distancing. Twice daily screening, mandatory mask-wearing, and constant hand sanitizing was put in place. We were able to place our overflow in the Super 8 motel, and our dedicated team of Housing Workers immediately went to work to find permanent housing for them.
Eighteen months on, we have become seasoned Covid veterans. We have come through three outbreaks and have found permanent, affordable, appropriate housing for 125 individuals. We could not have achieved any of this without our dedicated staff team, our Managers, our faithful volunteers, our partnership with Lang’s Community Health Centre, and the support of our community. We are very grateful for the incredible number of donations of masks, hand sanitizer, toiletries, clothing, and food.
We are looking forward to the ‘new normal’ when we will be able to open our doors and welcome the community back into our building.

GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity, taking place year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The "Opening day of the giving season" is a time where you can join together and rally for your favourite cause!
This year, we are asking for your support as an ongoing effort as we prepare to meet the needs of additional clients requiring emergency shelter and care this winter. With the House of Friendship's temporary closure, we are urgently working with other shelter partners to serve the needs of those without support. Donations of much-needed items such as coats, boots, hats, gloves and twin sheets are urgently needed.
Financial donations will ensure we can provide vital programs and services needed for these individuals to survive the cold, winter months.
